Currently I'm attending a small LAC in the midwest, and during my freshmen year I often thought about transferring, because the town was so tiny and insular and the weather was way too cold (which I know sounds like a silly gripe, but the weather was really a downer sometimes). I am very happy, however, with the LAC academic experience overall--small classes, personalized attention from professors, challenging curriculum, etc. I'm sticking out for sophomore year because I want to see if I have a better experience, but if I don't, I'm lost as to where I should transfer, since I figured this particular college was my dream school. So I'd like to transfer to a college that has a strong liberal arts/English departments in an urban (or at least suburban) setting. Preferably somewhere in the Southeast, to cut down on travel costs. Anyone have any suggestions?

oh. you might want to look for Swanee: The University of the South. I think they have a well respected English departments, and it is a LAC.
