<p>haha guitarfrk… Last semester I took 6 classes and had a 3.79 (all humanities, social sciences… + 1 chem) This sememster I mixed in 2 Science labs + Calc ended up dropping Calc & picking up Stats… ) Yes my GPA is WAYYYYYY lower. </p>
<p>Sciences & Math’s count for 2-3 humanities but a 4.0 is still a 4.0!! Congrats everyone. :)</p>
<p>LOL okay maybe not ALL you guys are taking easy classes, but i feel like a lot of the people who got 4.0s took some really easy BS majors that have like 4 prereqs.</p>

<p>Math/Econ at UCLA. All prereqs done except for discrete because it was canceled this semester. </p>
<p>But I also got accepted to Berkeley for CS. </p>
<p>So I ended up taking a lot of units won’t apply toward my Math/Econ degree, but it doesn’t matter because I wanted to get a basic programming background in CS anyway (I took 5 CS classes - Java, C, C++, data structures, computer arch/organization).</p>
<p>and @guitarfrk123, I get your point - it’s definitely valid. The humanities and other non-science courses didn’t require much work at all and were easy-A’s. (Hence taking 20+ units every semester was easily doable to get the IGETC out of the way)</p>
<p>Maybe but hopefully they are majoring in what they enjoy. :)</p>

<p>I’m so tired of people defacing other people’s interests by denouncing the worth of a major. Calling a major BS is simply rude and you only come off as a pretentious jerk. I understand that some majors are more challenging than others and often lead to higher paying careers, but does it ever occur to you that maybe some people are transferring to a higher institution with things other than making money on their minds?</p>

<p>Sorry if i came off as a jerk, it’s coming out of bitterness since the rigor is more intense. Either way, I don’t mean to offend people and I admire people who develop their interests. And I have to disagree w/ your assumption that people who are taking challenging majors are money-driven, some of us actually do it b/c we just happen to enjoy the major.</p>
<p>Obviously not everyone who takes on a major, no matter how rigorous, is doing it to simply accrue large sums of cash. I thought my post was evident of this.</p>
<p>This is only the second time in my 2.5 years at CC that I pulled off a 4.0.</p>

<p>I’m getting my fourth consecutive 4.0 semester, the thrill of it kinda wears off after the 2nd time getting a 4.0 though I was still pleased with myself for being the only kid to get 100% on a test in my Econ class and a 97% overall in my Calc 2 class. IMO it’s a lot of stress, after getting 4.0’s it’s now my standard and just slipping up that extra 3-4% from a safe A to a B is like failing so even with relatively easy course loads it can be stressful haha.</p>

<p>yeah im sorry too. but if you have a “less challenging” major, please stop boasting your GPA to the world.</p>
<p>And please take into account all the people who take majors for being easy and having a high admit rate into UCLA. Ive seen the question all too many times: “which major is easy and will get me into ucla??”</p>
<p>Actually, I prefer studying chemistry and doing labs than writing papers. The way I think of it, I can do chemistry and my thoughts and views aren’t going to be judged. I’m either right or wrong. Put the wrong thing in an essay and you could have a potential enemy for life (who may or may not have friends in the institution you hope to attend).</p>
<p>I have fun studying chemistry but I hate writing papers.
Either way the I work hard and get A’s <em>shrugs</em></p>
<p>I wouldn’t knock another major just because it takes less class prereqs. Who knows? A lot of the people who study things like sociology or communications end up being hiring managers so I want to get on their good sides now.</p>

<p>I’m not really down on dissing other people’s majors because I tended to struggle through my GEs like English and History. It’s probably not a coincidence that this semester was not only a 4.0 for me, but also my first semester without taking any GE classes.</p>

<p>So true. Grading on papers is so ambiguous. It depends on your view and the teachers views. The teacher can knock you on just because he doesn’t like your paper. You can have everything that is required in the paper and still not get an A because the teacher doesn’t like it. At least in classes like chemistry there is a right and wrong answer. There is no bias involved.</p>
<p>Even worse is if the teacher just plain doesn’t like you. In a science or math class if you are right it is easy to prove it. On a paper, the teacher can give you a C and state something ambiguous like, “Your argument in this paper demonstrated that you did not grasp the overall concepts of this class” or some such bull**** despite being well written.</p>
