Hya! I’m going to be a junior and I was planning to take AP Music Theory this year, but couldn’t. Should I wait to take it next year (if it’s available) or should I self-study it this year? I’m not planning on taking any other AP courses or exams this year, but next year I’m planning to take our AP Physics (B) and AP Calculus (AB) courses. I don’t have much musical experience except for my school district’s band and from a few instruments I play. I love music and would have the determination necessary to self-study AP Music Theory, but I don’t know what to use to study, nor how to prepare for parts like aural skills. Thank you!!!
Two posts down.
All you had to do was look two posts down for another thread on this same topic.

Those posters, and I, think self studying this subject is not a good idea.
@“Keasbey Nights” @skieurope Thank you!!! I thought that the post was from last year and was hoping someone who had taken it “this year” would have something that wasn’t on there. Sorry! XD
I had a friend who took it online because our school didn’t offer it. She sings, does piano and does theater a lot, so she thought it would be alright. To say the least she struggled, A LOT. In the end she did fine but really regretted it in the long run
