Post Blocker

I tried to send the moderators a couple of posts this morning but got blocked because the posts were too close together. It’s not helpful to have a 300 second block before we can post again. How can we help the moderators if it’s difficult to reach them?

Maybe there could be special permissions set up that new posters have to earn that become automatic after they reach a certain # of posts. We may only have 5 or 10 minutes to be on CC. Given the choice between waiting to be able to make a report to the mods or helping the families who post here, my choice is going to be to help the families. If CC wants members to help maintain the site by reporting things the mods may not have seen, maybe they should make it easier for us.

@CCadmin_Sorin, any thoughts?

Why did I just get a flag that my post required approval before it can appear? This was a simple remark on the Harvey forum.

Adding, maybe it’s because I included a blog link about donations? If that’s it (and my apologies,) just forget the post attempt and the revisions. I’ll post properly later. Again, sorry if it’s my error.

Correct, the link is not allowed.

Perhaps a system should be set up whereby a post flagged for approval can be edited by the poster. Most of us, if notified, are capable of correcting and editing the flagged post and making it okay. They seem to go into a a dark hole somewhere.

ToS forbids any fund raising, regardless of the cause.

Tom, clothing donations, on the Harvey thread. It wasn’t about money, but things like winter coats sent to southern coastal Texas and other items not usable.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I was not the mod that handled this, so I can’t speak on the specific situation, but as an overview:

It’s a new feature; any post with a filtered word (usually a profanity or prohibited link) is put in a moderation queue for review by the mods.

Bingo

In all likelihood, it was the link. The same ToS rules apply; links to a personal blog would not be approved. It has nothing to do with the fundraising. A link to the American Red Cross would have gone through, as would a link to the J.J. Watts Foundation, as examples. A link to Go fund me would not have gone through.

Currently the mods have 2 options: accept or delete. We have asked if it is possible for us to edit in the moderation queue before approving. As this was a bolt-on, the admins are unsure if modifications were feasible. But they’re asking the question anyway.

Thanks.
