Post Here When the Scores Are Up!

I'm not sure if the statements on the essay are generic. I got a 10. Here's what it says:

"General statements in your essay were well supported with specific reasons, examples, and details. Some varied sentence structures and precise word choice added clarity and interest to your writing."

I'm sure however it is probably something they repeat often and isn't something that is specific to your essay. (Or it probably does relate to your essay, but it is just a canned response the essay grader probably chooses from a list)

Essay- 10

Your essay showed recognition of the complexity of the issue by partially evaluating its implications.

I never really took a side in the essay, or if any, I said that computer use should be allowed in moderation, citing that although it's easier to cheat using a computer, now and in the near future, we will all be using computers to look up information, and being able to use the internet will be a necessary skill to function in society.

RE: phonyreal98

I got the same exact message you did on my last essay in June and got a 9 on that one. So I'm assuming these messages are canned messages they select from a list that pertain to your essay.

Essay- 8
=\
How many schools does the combined English/Writing matter for? I got a 35 English but 31 combined.

I don't think it really matters unless you got like a 3 on the essay. It doesn't affect your composite.

Good job everyone on the ACT!!

Apparently, science was mad hard this test because the 99th percentile extends all the way down to a 32. Reading, the 99th percentile goes down to a 33. Does this happen every test, or is it because this month's questions were significantly harder?

RE: RememberMe1990

Where did you get that data from?

It's listed underneath your "View Scores" section. It gives statistics for cumulative scoring, as well as subscoring.

So apparently, for everyone who didn't do as well as expected on the science section, you're not the only ones probably. I was a bit disappointed with my 30 science at first because I was aiming for a 35 (science has always been my strongest subject) but then I realized a 30 hits the 97 percentile. Woah...

I still don't understand. The reason I ask is because it says a 32 is a 98 percentile. Where are you getting 99?

This thread makes me wonder if this whole college discussion site has only been found by slightly smarter individuals than the average. I see alot of composites that are over the 90th percentile. Not bad all

It's because the average individual doesn't necessarily search nor care for college discussion sites. Or it could be that those that have scores that aren't as good as some of these people's 36's are just afraid to post theirs. Just my opinion...

woops kutibah...my mistake. You're right. 33 is the 99th percentile.

8 essay...DANM

lol....10 essay. Not bad...I just tried to be as conformist as possible haha.

so now if we have gotten our writing score, we can send our scores away to colleges if we like... correct?

Yes, I already sent my score.

sorry one more question. If i was to sign up for the Dec 8th ACT date would i have to have the ACT automatically send scores to colleges of my choice in order for them to receive them by Jan 1st or would i have time to view the scores and then decide and be able to send them on my own?

hmm..I sent might right after I got my composite from the 4 sections..I didn't wait on my essay score (not sure if it's there, the system is down now). Since they probably haven't processed it yet, they should still send my writing too, right?

It says on their website that they won't send your score report until your writing score is available, so yes, if your's is not yet up, they will wait before they mail your report.
