I first scored 152 on the IQ test. Being the egotistical person that I am, I immediately assumed that this was near the ceiling. Then I noticed the person above with 168, which rather put me off. So, I went back through my test to try to find an answer that I wasn't so confident about. I changed one answer - the staple-in-the-stapler answer - and got 168. Heh, so apparently eye-balling the size of that staple is a 16 point IQ difference.

This brings up an interesting point though, which is that anyone scoring near the ceiling of the test doesn't get such a reliable (or precise) score. Obviously, if someone has an IQ of 200 (which is very rare, but possible), a test with ceiling below 200 isn't going to be accurate. It's kind of stupid that Tickle doesn't mention this to high scorers, "Oh, by the way, we don't really know if your IQ is 168 because there is no possible combination of answers that will give you above 168, and, actually, no possible combination of answers that will give you between 152 and 168." (It might be that if I manipulate it more I can get between, but the point still stands.)

Either way, my score is pretty consistent with tests I took as a child, and with a test I took once before on a different site, but that other site also had a similar ceiling (which I'm now, of course, assuming to be 168). Anyway, the point is that if you got, say, over 140, and you really want an accurate result, you should probably take a test with a higher ceiling.

As for my opinion on IQ tests, which nobody has asked for :) I think that they do consistently and accurately measure something, but I have the feeling that there isn't a clear idea on what that something is. Marilyn Vos Savant, who holds the world record highest IQ score, also doesn't think very highly of IQ tests.

Honestly, I think everybody is taking the Tickle IQ a little too seriously. It's a test on a site full of fun quizzes and tests. Just let it be fun like it's supposed to be. If you want a REAL IQ test, you're most likely not going to find it online.

cmon man
we're not that stupid! seriously? Nobody is going to be listing on their resume that they got a 154 on the Super IQ test of tickle.com
but a good representation of a solid IQ test would be the workout on the mensa website!

err...it was an obvious joke?
though some people to refer to them, in that they state that they are members of mensa, which states implicitly that they have a high IQ

After more than a year, it’s time to give this topic a bump. I’ll post my result from the IQ test in order to continue what has now become an ancient (not so) tradition.

Insightful Linguist

Your IQ Score is: 133

You are gifted with the natural fluency of a writer and the visual and spatial strengths of an artist. Those skills contribute to your creative and expressive mind.

Insightful linguists can take complex concepts and articulate them to just about anyone. You have a gift with words and insight into processes and the way people think. These talents enable you to explain things clearly to people. Helen Keller is a great example of an Insightful Linguist. Blind, deaf and mute, she was still able to put things together in her mind and to understand complex ideas. She could do that because she was able to conceptualize ideas internally. Though she could not literally see, she had the visual and spatial skills necessary to understand patterns on an abstract level. She learned to read, write and ultimately became a writer on issues of social justice.

You have an uncanny ability to work your way out of sticky situations using your talent with words. Crossword puzzles, debates you’re particularly well equipped to come out on top since you can read people well.

Like Charles Dickens, your verbal skills go far beyond having a good vocabulary. Dickens’ genius was in the artful and descriptive way he crafted sentences. Also Dickensian, is your keen eye for detail and your adeptness for identifying the best way to express an idea based on your given surroundings and circumstances.

Your ability to communicate your vision clearly will take you far. So enjoy being perceptive, and make the most of your abilities as an insightful linguist.

IQ- Visual Mathematician
Your IQ Score is: 135

You have a strong ability to process visual-spatial and mathematical information. These skills combined with your strengths in logic are what make you a Visual Mathematician.

You’re able to understand patterns visually and in numbers. That means your mind can create a mental picture for any problem. In addition to that skill, you possess an intelligence that allows you to apply math to that picture, too. That helps you manipulate multiple parts of the picture (or problem) to come up with a solution. You have many skills that are critical to success and problem-solving. Your talents help you understand the “big picture,” which is partly why people may turn to you for direction especially in the workplace. You flourish in environments where tasks are clearly defined, and you are a whiz at improving processes and making things more efficient. Your ability to detect patterns and your skills in math and logic, make it natural for you to come up with ideas and theories that simplify processes for everyone.

Outside of work, Visual Mathematicians tend to do well at strategic activities like chess. It must be that ability to recognize patterns both as they are and how they develop. Regardless of how you put your mind to use, you’ve got a great set of talents. You will be able to envision a clear path and calculate the risks, and more importantly, the rewards, of anything you take on.

WOW THIS WAS SO INNACURATE. I think my biggest weakness lies in my spatial reasoning skills. Whatev

EQ test is too long. I prob would have failed horribly anyways

My IQ description was actually surprisingly accurate (see my post above if interested). My creative writing skills and innovative sentence construction are my strength. I would have laughed if I had gotten something like Visionary Mathematician. I despise math.

Does anyone know if this IQ test gives a reasonably good approximation? I did some research and mostly obtained that this is one of the best free tests on the net.

“Does anyone know if this IQ test gives a reasonably good approximation?”

It is really quite good, my IQ (tested by Doctors on several occasions) is 180 - 190, if it was able differentiate the top-end and give an accurate value then it must be good.

Wow, you are profoundly bright, Yank. I bet that we could carry some fascinating conversations. Nice to know that this test actually gives a decent estimate. I took the Emotional Intelligence Test and my results are:

Subscale IQ score = 128
Subscale percentile = 97

Pretty close to my IQ (133), that makes for a well rounded personality. Nice haha.
