What's your IQ?

I'm curious as to what the IQ's are of these smart and talented engineers here.

Lower than yours.

Did that make you happy?

Seriously, IQ is a disputed and relatively meaningless measure of "smartness," whatever that term may actually mean.

I don't think I know anyone who took an IQ test. I can't think of a bigger waste of time. Do you really need a test score to convince yourself that you're smart?

IQ certainly isn't meaningless or even a waste of time. It's a good metric and correlates fairly well with academic performance.

However, once you begin in your career, IQ becomes a small factor. This happens for a couple reasons. Firstly, "career tracks" generally have many people who are similar in IQ and therefore the difference in IQs is much less. Work ethic and personality are the biggest drivers of career performance, by far.

To answer the poster, like 125.

140 ten char

180 .

Hilarious.

53.2

(ten char.)

I had an older man (coworker) come up to me the other day and say "you seem like a fairly intelligent young man. What's your IQ?" I was a bit bewildered and offended at this.

I smiled and told him "higher than yours."

^^that last part's a joke by the way ;)

278.........

100 <-- average :D

0.00000000

sqrt(e^(pi*i))

^Wouldn't that make your IQ an imaginary number (assuming "i" for imaginary)? Hehe

Mine is 167, but since coming to engineering school I've found that I can no longer ride soley on it. I've picked up some work ethic along the way.

As much as people hate on the idea of IQ, it could be helpful when used the way it was first meant to be used. Obviously it doesn't mean anything now since actual performance is a better metric, but it could be useful for providing an education that is tailored to a child's needs.

I tacked a few extra points on to my IQ as to reward myself for realizing that "10 chars" isn't needed ;)

I took it twice, my superscore is 200. I'm planning to take the IQ 2, which is a subject test.

Not sure what my IQ is. But I felt really stupid after I got into engineering school. Then I thought they let me into grad school by accident and was afraid they would find me out as a "fraud". Then probably by the luck of the draw I got a job offer. So all in all, probably less than 100 :p

IQ is only a measure of your potential for smartness, so to say. You can have a complete idiot with an IQ of 200.

uhh ive taken tests and they range from around 110-120...and i have no idea what that means to me.
