So what Im understanding, it looks like college students are NOT exempt from jury duty where I live. (Alameda County in California). So my only option is to postpone, this is the first time I needed to postpone jury duty and I plan to postpone till the next break, possibly winter break since I have a long break that time. My question is if I postpone it, let's say December 16, 2013, and is approved by the court, Do I have to call the court back on that date, or will they send me a new letter?

If anyone have experience in postponing in Alameda County or in California please chime in!

You send in the current paperwork with your proposed dates and they will mail you a new letter with your new jury duty days.
CA kids have to do their jury duty during scheduled college breaks.

What happens if I DON’T get a reply from them? Some students I’ve talked too (from the same home town as me) said they mailed a postponement but never got a reply. The actual summons letter said I will only get a reply if it’s rejected. So if I don’t get a reply, it means that my new summons date is approved. So at that point, do I need to just go to the court that date?
