Potential concerns

Some potential concerns of mine as an incoming gator would be internship oppurtunities and teacher recommendations.
How abundant are the internships at UF if i wanted one and if i needed a professor to write me a letter of recommendation for whatever reason would it be feasible given the size of the classrooms?

You have to aggressively seek internship opportunities, no matter which school you attend. UF has one of the best Career Resource Centers, so take advantage of it. Make sure to attend the career fairs, this is the number 1 source of internships and jobs. Even as a Freshman, you should attend the career fairs and talk with the recruiters. Try to determine what they are looking for (skills, classes, etc.). It’s hard landing a paid internship as a freshman, but going to the career fair will be a great first step.

You’ll need to build a relationship with your professors, not easy to do as freshman, but once you’re a junior, you’ll get a chance to work closer with your professors (in your major). Based on your major, you may want to pursue an undergrad research opportunity. These are easier to get as a Fresh/Soph and allow you to build relationships with your professors.

The following link will help explain how to find a research position. Everything listed applies to all undergrads, not just honor students.

It’ll be all on you to develop the relationships and seek out opportunities. What particular field are you thinking?
