I’ve accepted at Vanderbilt for RD and have been invited to MOSAIC, but my ACT score is 33. Does this mean that I don’t have a chance of getting the CV scholarship?
So I was also recently accepted RD and invited to MOSAIC and I’m also a Chancellor’s Scholar, which I was notified of in the same package. I’ll just mention my stats if that will help anyone in any way.
34 ACT, 3.89 UW 4.55 W, no major awards, 12 AP classes, nothing major in terms of extracurriculars tbh they were all pretty generic but I’m guessing my essay for the scholarship was good? and that’s probably what got me the scholarship. to future appliers: message me if you’d like to read it for an idea of what they’re looking for
So you were both already accepted? RD acceptance is not until 4/1? Is that because you were invited for MOSAIC?
@lmaobakwaas Does a Chancellor’s Scholar mean full tuition? If so, that’s great!
@wrights1994 yeah i was told i’m accepted and invited to mosaic so it goes hand in hand. and @indianboy2400 chancellor’s is full tuition + $5k stipend like cornelius vanderbilt, thank you!
Congratulations, Imaobakwaas, on the offer of the Chancellor’s. Happy decision-making this spring.
I just got an email telling I was a semifinalist for Curb Scholarship. I hope this does not mean I was not selected for the CV scholarship. Curb and CV aren’t mutually exclusive, are they?
@cauldroncastle That’s a good question. I can’t imagine they would take away your opportunity to be selected for the CV scholarship simply because you are a semifinalist - since the Curb Scholarship isn’t guaranteed per se. Also, congrats.
@cauldroncastle do you know if they send an email whether or not you were selected as a semifinalist or only if you were selected?
@ClassicalCollege I suppose that’s true and thanks! @musicgeek97 No clue about that.
@adrianmcafee15 Congrats! If I may ask, how have you gotten accepted so early for RD?
So many have already heard about their scholarships. Do they really still send out answers in Mid-March?
Congratulations to everyone who’s already heard about their scholarships! For the last five years, CV decisions have come out March 5, with the exception of one year when the 5th fell on a Saturday and they came out the 7th instead.
Should I be worried about prospects for this scholarship if I didn’t get a MOSAIC invite?
@virago1 No. From what I understand they are related. MOSAIC is for minority students this scholarship is for minority and non.
@musicgeek97 I’m Asian, so my concern is that if I didn’t stand out enough to get a mosaic invite I wouldn’t be qualified enough to get CV either
@virago1 I wouldn’t think that was the case because I think they’re looking at different things, but that’s just my opinion.
@kashallover Vanderbilt sends out some acceptance letters early in order to invite students to an event called MOSAIC during March.
Two more weeks!
Some non-mosaic regular acceptances have been announced. My blonde, blue-eyed, male son got his RD letter Tuesday. Some have told us it could be an “early write” deal which is kind of an honor, some have asked if he mistakenly marked the wrong race… but MOSAIC is mentioned nowhere in the acceptance letter…
