Potential Premed Student searching for a Major

Hey guys, im currently a High School junior and have wanted to be a doctor for years. Plan A is to get into a 7/8 med program and not need to worry about med school applications, but if that doesn't end up working out I am going to need to find something to major in.

I consider myself to be a Good math student (taking AP Calc as a Junior) and pretty solid at science (taken all three lab sciences so far and looking to take AP Bio and Biochem next year). Biology always seemed like the obvious major choice for a premed student, but I dont know if its right for me. I really enjoy my English class, and was considering majoring in some topic in the humanities, to pursue my interests but still keep my goal of being a doctor in tact.

Other majors im considering would be English and Economics, as well as the classic choices of Biology and Biochem.

Im also wondering how intense the course work would be if I were to take Econ/English as a major and still have to take all the science courses needed for Med school.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

For premed you need to take the Mcat which has a lot of biology, calculus (I believe), chemistry, and physics. So I suggest you minor in at least one of the above and take some MCAT classes. Everyone going into med school goes with a chemical or biology related major, so it might be good to go the creative way and choose a different major as long as you get a decent MCAT score for the med school of your choice.

If you love economics/english then by all means, go for it. I would stay for economics because it has much more job oppertunities.
