Potentially applying ED - Chances?

I’m either going to apply here or Duke early decision. I want to apply to the school ED that I feel I have the highest chance of getting accepted to. Do you think I can get into Cornell ED? Of those two schools, which do you think I will get accepted to? Here are my credentials;

4.1 GPA

2230 SAT

AICE Diploma Recipient (14 Aice Credits total)

I’ve never taken a non Aice/Honors class.

2 years of Baseball. (Varsity letter awarded)

2 years of Model UN

1 year National Honor Society

4 years foreign language

Rigorous schedule; I’ve taken hardest schedule’s possible at my school for my junior and senior year.

200+ Hours Volunteer work

EDIT: Additionally, if I don’t get into either of them ED - What’s my chances getting admitted RD?

thats like the exact question I have … and I have the exact scores as you. No one has answered mine

my overall SAT was 2230 too

Do you have a clear first choice? If so, that’s the school you should apply to ED.

Do you not have a clear first choice? If not, then applying ED probably isn’t the best decision for you.

I love both of these schools. It’d be pretty much a coin flip if I got into either of these schools. I guess my question is is; which of these schools would I have a better chance of getting admitted to if I applied to them ED with my credentials?

No one really knows.

The Duke website explicitly states that one has an advantage applying ED to Duke (26% vs 9%RD) ; whereas Cornell ILR doesn’t seem to say that anywhere. If you would be happy at both, I think it would be better to ED Duke.

What school are you applying to at Cornell…your numbers don’t mean anything if your ECs don’t fit your school.

What is your class rank? What EC leadership roles?

"What school are you applying to at Cornell…your numbers don’t mean anything if your ECs don’t fit your school.
" …this is a fallacy. Numerous admits’ ECs have had nothing to do with the school, and / or major they are admitted to, but rather demonstrate outstanding leadership & excellence through their ECs. Essays can be used to show passion / fit for specific college / major.

@csdad in reference to this applicant, it totally applies. They have no outstanding leadership roles. Having ECs that fit your major certainly boost your chances of being accepted.

I see your point, did not read the entire thread closely. I guess I over reacted to the “your ECs have to show fit” statement that is at times professed here. My D and a couple of other longtime posters kids were admitted with ECs that had nothing to do with their major / college

@csdad Yes! Younger brother was somehow accepted to human ecology with no significantly related ECs?!? He was a great student and had more than a handful of leadership positions, but i had always thought that school was most about fit.

@PaulDi I would say that some colleges at Cornell care more about fit than others. For example, in Arts & Sciences technically everyone comes in undeclared, so fit would be more important for the school overall (which emphasizes education in a variety of disciplines) than for the individual major. Schools like Hotel and ILR probably look more for ECs related to that college. Again, just my own personal argument; I don’t have much evidence to actually back that up other than anecdotal evidence.

P.S. I love your profile picture; what event is that from?

Pic is from slope day in 2011. I think i just searched “slope day”. My first slope day was… Kendrick Lamar i think?
