Pratt Institute (Main campus) vs PrattMWP

Hello, I recently got waitlisted by Pratt. However a few days ago I was sent a mail by PrattMWP that they would like to offer me a spot even though I didn't apply to them directly. It said that I'll be transferred for my Junior and Senior year to the Main Institute.

Now here is the catch. Pratt has a cost of attendance of almost $60K and PrattMWP has it around $26K.

I can't stop thinking why this is so. I mean I should be happy but why is it so less? Is the campus not that good? I'd love to talk to any current/alumni of PrattMWP.

Please advice. Anything would help.

Thank you in advance.

Help.

My daughter goes to Pratt and loves it. The actual tution is around $43,000 less than scholarships that you mightt earn. The dorm was comparable to state schools and we paid $3000 for food. Your insurance can be waived if you are on your parents plan. She also works to pay for all of her supplies which are pricey the first year but at least they are honest unlike other schools. She got a triple dorm second year and then found a cheap apartment and cooks her own food which has saved a lot. But she takes 18 hours and works really hard including internships.

The first year at Pratt everyone takes the same foundation classes with drawing, art history, etc. The second year is foundation classes in your major. (Architecture and Interior Design are different.) My understanding is the cost of living and the classes are cheaper at the branch campus because it is less expensive then the city. Brooklyn is a lot cheaper than Manhattan but their prices are rising rapidly as it is becoming the hot spot.

If you are able to afford the main campus, you would probably enjoy it. If you are taking out loans, by all means it would be worth it to save the money at the branch campus the first two years. And if you can work and save money for expenses, you will really make it better on yourself. Best of luck.
