Pratt VS. Drexel

Hello All,

I am having some difficulty deciding between the Masters in Interior Design Programs at Pratt and Drexel. Pratt, while my number one choice and a higher rated program, will be much more expensive in the end. Drexel, on the other hand, is offering more aid and is still a very good program.

Also, I currently live in Philly but have always wanted to live in NYC. Very, very hard decision.

Anyone with experience with either program have any insight?

No experience, but in general you should follow the money for undergrad. You don’t want to go into big debt for Pratt, so I think if you have to borrow more than about $30-40K, then you should choose Drexel. Drexel’s a great school with some other great programs. And it’s only 4 years - if you want to move to NYC later, you can.

Coincidentally, I advise undergraduate students in NYC and most of them are trying to get out of NYC. They (like me) believe that this is a nice city to visit or even live in for a time, but it’s very expensive and a bit overwhelming.

Thank you! I feel I may be coming to the same conclusion. This is a master’s program that will only be three years, but the same theory applies. I have to balance the allure of the “better” school in the “better” city with actually being able to live after I graduate.
