Pre-Cal over the summer?

I'm currently a freshman and I'm taking Alg. 2 and I find it pretty easy. I've had an A all year and so I was given the opportunity of taking pre-cal over the summer. So I would take calculus sophomore yr, and then IB 3 and 4 math in junior and senior yr. Now, if I dont take pre-cal this summer, then sophomore year i'll take pre-cal, junior yr calculus and then i would only be able to take IB 2 math in my senior yr.

I'm considering a career in math/science so wouldn't the first choice look best on my transcript? but i want to be able to understand the material and i'm curious to as if a summer course would be too difficult? but i've also heard that you barely use you pre-cal in calculus, but how would that work?

Hey there…
depending on your curriculum you may or may not use much pre-calc in calculus. If you have an Alg 2 curriculum that goes over things like conic sections, and your algebra skills are very strong, you should be okay imo to do it over the summer. This would material you’d already know and for you, Pre-calc would be a recap of your math career…and a breezy one if you’re solid in math.
I’m in pre-calculus now and have a few friends in AP Calc AB [only Calc my school offers].
