So I guess I want to take both these classes, but I'm worried about effing up my gpa. I liked Chem honors (as far as a science class goes), but I'm not particularly good at science and I'm downright awful at math. I'm taking a class called Math Analysis this year which is basically regular Precalc so I think that will help me, but I've never taken Trig so that will definitely hurt.. I'm worried about having a homework overload too because I'm sure both these classes give a lot of daily homework. My other classes would be AP Lit and AP German, then probably some easy honors class. So do you think it'll be to hard for me to take both AP Chem and honors Pre Calc? Should I take just one? And if so which one?

You should take them both so you have a math and a science senior year which is good. I’m in both now and it’s doable, but I tend to study more for AP Chemistry because of the concepts, which can get a little difficult.

I’m in both (jr), and I think that precalc is way harder. With that said, in my head, math is nonsense, while science is intuitive. If you’re taking “precalc” this year, taking the higher version next year shouldn’t be much more difficult. (Also, I don’t think that there is any trig involved in AP chem; the highest level of math that we’ve used so far is the quadratic formula in one chapter and logarithms in another.)

Also… if you don’t love science, you might get sick of chem. I love chemistry, and sometimes I still get sick of it. I don’t know how your school works, but I have it every day, 84 minutes, and some days it’s downright torture.

Yeah I’d have it every day for 2 hours…! 2 hours!!! I do like chem, but I remember I felt the same way where some days I was just like “omgggg when is this class over?!” Thanks though. I’m honestly more worried about Pre Calc if anything because when I took honors geometry freshman year it was possibly the worst experience of my life and I got Bs both semesters even after I worked so hard on homework and studying… That was when I realized math wasn’t for me… But I think I should take it so i don’t show up to college being super far behind in math and in extremely basic math classes.

I have Pre-cal and Chem… But I like and find them easy-ish. However I can say that most of Pre-Cal is just review (with added stuffs) from Algrebra 2 and AP Chem really depend on how much you’re studying.
