Is taking Pre-Calculus over the summer a bad idea?
I would like to take Calculus AB or BC over Jr year so I can take AP Stat in senior year. (Aspiring Econ/Finance/Business/Biomed Engineering major)

In the California schooling system, Pre-Calc comes after Algebra 2.
Is this going to be too tough of a transition?

If not, what would work best?
Online or real-classroom course?

No, a ton of kids at my school have done it before (our system follows the same path).

I’m doing it too, but I’m mainly just using my school’s pre-calc book and khan academy to help.

In most schools you go to Pre-Calculus after Algebra II. I’m not it over the summer, but I am taking it my Junior year. Like stated above, Khan Academy is really good.

Oh, yeah, it needs to be for credit. We can’t take the next level in a course unless we have the required credits. It sucks de big-time, mon.

If you are forced to take a class, either online or classroom setting would work. Personally, I thought precalc (and many of my peers thought this too) was just a rehash of Alg2 & Trig with a bit of added material. Really not the toughest class, especially if you will take a course, and if you have time over the summer, then why not?

the alg 2 transition to precalc should not be a problem as long as you have some grasp of algebra/trig and even a hint of aptitude for math.

online vs traditional class depends on you really. Classroom is better if you need to listen/be more involved and grounded in the material, online is probably not as effective AFAIK
