Is your high school senior exhibiting any symptoms of discomfort or anxiety over soon starting a new chapter in his or her life?
Mine is showing signs of self-sabotage grade-wise. It’s not senioritis exactly, though it could look that way if you don’t know her. I think it’s more like “Maybe if I don’t do well in school anymore, mom and dad will let me stay a kid instead of going off to college.”
My DS’17 finished stronger than he started and hasn’t started “fouling the nest” yet but the older DS’14 started around March of his Sr. year. It definitely made dropping him off that fall much easier. I’m hoping DS’17 doesn’t change his attitude!
Mine is nervous about sharing a room with a stranger. He has never shared a room with anyone other than at summer camp where he was in a cabin with 12 people for two months. He puts off calling and talking more to the guy because he is nervous about it. He wants to go away but is showing a little anxiety about going to a state he has only visited twice in his life. He is also anxious about his class schedule. He worried it will be too much but knows he can do it. It is just the unknown. We go back up there for a few days in June so I hope that will help.
He didn’t let his grades drop and is ending with straight As. He just is hating to go to school these last 5 days because they aren’t doing anything. He is exempt from finals but still has to be in school. Next week is pre grad stuff and they have to be there a couple of hours each day until graduation on Friday.
