<p>It is used to check the prostate, but it is also to check for internal bleeding, which is not so uncommon. Blood in the GI tract can be clear, so they need to test.</p>

<p>before that he will play with ur balls and ask you to caugh also.</p>

<p>It is not often done in peds, as well as a maturity test is almost never done, except at a very young age.</p>

<p>I had one a while back when I was having some GI problems. Who knows, maybe you'll like it. It's really not that bad. It's not like they get a tube and stick it 3 feet in, it's all of 2 inches maybe.</p>

<p>A rectal exam is part of a comprehensive physical exam. It also is an important part of a gyn exam.
To make it easier, just bear down a bit as the doc/NP begins to insert their finger, this will relax the anal spinchter and it will make the whole process more comfortable (sorry for the graphic detail)
It can be unpleasant but is an important part of assessing your total health</p>

<p>the whole thing stinks. sticking a finger in someones anus is a sex act. sure some doctors are probably grossed out by it. but there must be a certain number of pervs who do it for fun. a tube is okay, a finger is violation.</p>

<p>its not a violation its your choice, you can refuse the test, though if you had prostate cancer which is one of the most treatable types of cancer, but its also the most deadly type of cancer in men. They do the test to catch it early, which is why its so treatable</p>

<p>Not to discount the OP if this is legitimate. It's just that most people tend to go for something less....well, just less....for their first (and only, thus far) post.</p>

<p>isnt there an alternative? like a tube with a videocamera a la colonoscopies.</p>

<p>colonoscopy is a very expensive procedure, it would be a waste of time and money to do the procedure, and even the colonoscopy would require some Fingers at times.</p>
