My son has been accepted to UNC, UMD and NYU as a music major. He loves music but does not want to make his career in music so he wants to double major. He really wants to go to UNC, but while at admitted students day yesterday he sat through the Justice and Legal Thought Scholars program and was very very excited about it. It is a living and learning 2 year program that examines current and past socials and legal issues, examines trials, debates, offers internships and research opportunities, offers a class on skills building to prep for interviews for the internships/careers. The students go out into campus and promote effective discussion and debate among students.
UMD also offers a pre-med advisor whos job it is to monitor each student that comes to him from beginning to end in order to develop appropriate experience and coursework to appeal to Law School admissions offices. He maintains relationships with these schools and says that based on his relationships with them as well and the students who take advantage of his services he is able to work to get them into at least one or two law schools as long as they work together throughout their four years.
Can anyone tell me if UNC has a program that might be similar to College Park Scholars? Thank you for your help!
