Does anyone know how pre-med is at BC is? How well does BC prepare its pre med students for med School and for the MCATS? What is the percentage of students in the pre med program who actually get into med school? How many pre med students are enrolled at BC?

i'm curious too. i've read that 89% of students with at least a 3.6 and a 9 on the MCATs get into med school... but what percentage of the total number of med students is that?

I was just in the information session for PreMed today, so I may be able to shed a little light on the subject. The way it was described, premed is simply a program which anyone can enter in to. They will write anyone a letter, though Im sure they will be honest about those weaker applicants. It seems as if they are an organized program and prepare the students well for the admissions process. As an example, one has to submit their personal statement to an advisor 6 months before it is due for review.
The senior advisor gave the presentation and he showed an impressive graph of students who had been accetped to med school. Chumcourt seems correct with the numbers. I would say that the percentage is higher if anything. The advisor pointed out the only two people last year who werent accepted with the above credentials and they both lacked significant clinical experience and one was out of college and didnt consult the premed program about applying to medschool. A (very) rough guess at the number of people on the graph, which was of the students who applied to med school last year, would put the number of med school students around 75. This is just from looking at dots on a familyconnection style graph.

Chumcourt: I would say that was about 35 percent (once again a rough guess) of the premed students while those with Id say a 3.0 - 3.5 and MCATs above an 8 had probably 60% admit rate.

Hope this helps.
