Pre-Med at Georgetown?

Does Georgetown have a good pre-med program?

Is it extremely difficult to get an A or B in a science class?

Does anyone know what percent of students get accepted into medical school?

If anyone could answer ANY of these questions, I’d be really thankful!

Yes it has an excellent pre-med program in two ways: the core pre-medical curriculum is comprehensive and rigorous and the advising system is strong.

It's difficult to get an A or B in a science class in that attaining such grades require a lot of work, but most students get As and Bs in their science classes--I'd say most get half and half. This is only indicative of the strength of the program and understood by medical school admissions committees. I don't think you'll find a school where most students get As in pre-med classes. If you do, it probably means the program is weak.

The acceptance rate for medical school is about 90%. People debate this number because this is the percentage of students accepted out of all those who complete the pre-med curriculum and are recommended by the pre-med committee, not the percent of students who declared pre-med as freshmen and later applied to medical school. It is the most accurate way to measure success in acceptance to medical school.

Hope that helps.

Yes, jp26, that helps a lot! I couldn't find any statistics pertaining to my specific question, so thanks for that and your overall response! It's appreciated!
