Pre-med at UCSD

I was wondering what major one should be in to be fully prepare for med school even if I am not a pre-med major. I’m in the molecular biology major by the way. Are there courses that I can take to prepare me for the MCAT?

Also, if I want to get into a good med school (my aim is UCSF or Harvard), aside from getting a 3.5GPA or higher, what else would look good on my application? I messed up planning for college my first two years of high school and so now I’m planning for med school before it’s too late.

A final question, is there a pre-med advisor at UCSD like there are in schools like Washington U at St. Louis? If there are, how can I get in touch with one? Or are they just available for pre-med majors?

There is no such thing as a pre-med major. You just need to be sure to take the required classes for med school and get an excellent GPA.

ucsd has a bioeng:premed major, however keep in mind that it is an engineering major.
