Im an incoming freshman at William and Mary and I’m looking to follow the Pre-Med track here at the college. I’ve heard a bunch of scary stories about pre-med at William and Mary, but I’m willing to work hard and give everything I have to do well. Does anyone have any info about the difficulty and general culture around the pre-med track at William and Mary? Also, could anyone shed some light onto the EVMS early assurance program?
One thing you have to understand is pre-med is going to be challenging everywhere because 1) you need to do well to gain admission to medical school and 2) the courses in a typical “pre-med” track are not easy subjects. At some schools, there can be a cutthroat competitive culture. That is completely opposite of the culture at W&M. I suggest you reach out to the pre-med advisor at W&M for information. I think contact information is on the website. That will be a better source of information.
You couldn’t describe the academic culture as laid-back, though!
Very smart, hardworking students, many of whom are pre-med.
