Hey

I know that some med schools require two semesters of calculus. Will math 103 and 104 cover this? I know penn recommends math 104 and 114, but med schools don't require multi variable calculus(math 114). I know some students at other schools that just use calc AB and BC AP(which are equivalent to 103 and 104) credit for med admissions. If anyone can clear this up for me, I would really appreciate it.

Most people will do Math 104 or 115 along with Stat 101 if they are premed. I'm not really sure if med schools will count 103 because it's called introduction to calculus.

yeah, but shouldn't med schools take into account that math 103 is equivalent to calc AB and is also equivalent to "Calc 1" at schools like harvard and duke. Just because its called "intro to calculus" here at penn, it doesn't mean it still isn't calculus.

But how are med schools supposed to know it's equivalent? On the transcript, 104 and 114 are just listed as CalcI and CalcII, and I doubt admin counselors will look into specifics to see if the curriculum from one school's Calc II matches another one's or not.

It's kind of lame, but pre-med kids just sort of deal with it.

I meant Stat 111, not 101
