Pre-Med English Major

God knows why I'm still up, but I am nonetheless. Being surrounded by family making college decisions, naturally I am starting to think about my own.

I have a deep passion for literature/English. However, I have an equal interest in plastic surgery. I know I would like to be a Surgeon, yet I have some fears about medical school.
What if I don't get it? Blah, blah, blah. I'm sure others share my worries. Anyways, I have, like I already said, a passion for English. But there aren't many careers out there for this study. I do NOT want to teach. No thank you.

My question: Would being a pre-med English major benefit me in anyway? Is this common? Would this help me stand out against the applicants for medical school?
