Hey so Im hoping to eventually go to medical school, but Im wondering which majors would be best to help me most with MCATS or getting admissions to med school? And for each one...what is good about it or what do you need to worry about, if you got insight in any? Like...which is easier...which helps in what...what kind of jobs can you get with those degrees if i don't play to go to medical schools?

Biology
Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics
Physiological Sciences

Biology is useless unless you want to go to Africa to study gorillas.

Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics is a good major if you wanted to go into research. Most people in that major do PhD’s or MD/PhD’s.

Physiological Sciences probably prepares you best for med school because it’s pretty much human anatomy- it also has the most premeds.

But I would say that you would probably have the most options with a Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology B.S. if you don’t get into med school.

None of them - the MCAT is specifically designed to only require the med school prereqs as prior knowledge, and usually not even that. The MCAT is an interesting beast - its more of a critical thinking skills test than a knowledge test.

Statistically? Humanities. But that could be because of the self-selection that goes on for humanities majors applying to med school. But they do have the highest admit rates and med schools like to have a diverse class.

Of the ones you listed, Physci or MMCB are the most popular with pre-meds (in that order).
