Good post

Anybody have any idea how good the pre med is?

i know!! i'm so curious and nobody has even replied... its so discouraging.

me too! got in for biomedical engineering...foudn out over the weekend.

many bio meds are premed per a friend in that program. Why don't you call the school.

I have a friend at Tech thats pre med and he is a legend at my school. He says the program is pretty good, but the chemistry and bio are not for the casual worker.

Hi pre-med ppl,

Sorry if this post is too late for you. I just recently joined this forum ...
Anyway, I'm a pre-med at Tech.
Georgia Tech doesn't have a specific pre-med program, no specific set of courses that can be taken for admission into medical school. You must choose one of the majors offered at Tech and then from there, take any courses needed to fulfill medical schools reqs. that aren't already in your major's curriculum.
Many majors are available that offer a good stepping stone into medical school (bio and chem are the most popular); furthermore, medical schools like to see well-rounded applicants so choosing a major like mgt. or philosophy is also a viable option. Just be sure to take the required science classes.
Most pre-meds aren't engineering majors (recently, however, a considerable portion of the pre-med population has majored in Biomedical Engineering so that's something to consider.)
Students don't take engineering majors as pre-meds because - quite frankly - the engg. classes here will murder your GPA and most med schools don't bother about the rigor of an applicant's undergrad institution.
I'm a chemical engineering student and only recently decided to go pre-med. I have to take some extra bio courses (out of my curriculum) and also get a 3.5+ GPA in chemE, which is - to be blunt - very close to impossible (unless you're a super-genius!)
NO MAJOR AT TECH IS EASY!! Every class will require considerable effort on your part.
Even though GT doesn't have an actual pre-med program, it prepares you superbly for the rigors of medical school. I know many former GT, current med students who talk gleefully about how they are coping with the voluminous coursework in med school with a greater ease because they survived and actually defeated every obstacle that Tech threw at them.

Hope this rambling helped ... :)
