hello everyone. I am a freshman at NVCC and I'm not sure where I want to transfer to yet. I'm just trying to get the highest gpa I can for now. I know that I want to become a med student but I'm very confused and kind of scared about the pre-med requirements. I read online, talked with friends and asked a faculty advisor at NVCC but have gotten different answers about taking pre-med requirements at a CC. I know that I will have to take the MCAT around my junior year. Do I really have to wait until I transfer to a 4 year university to take my pre-med requirement courses? I wouldnt have them all completed by junior year so I wouldnt be ready for the MCAT but I heard and read that colleges dont like med school applicants who took pre-med classes at a CC. :

You can take most, if not all, of your pre-med coursework at NVCC. Intro. Biology, Intro. Chemistry, Intro. Physics, Calculus are first year courses after all! If you wait to take them after transferring, you will have a lot more trouble fitting them in. Meet again with your counselor at NVCC, and find out what is the normal track for pre-med students to follow there.
