What are the best Pre-med schools in the nation that will maximize your chances at med school?

See the sticky thread:

Any specific schools?

According to a thread you started:
“Chance me for Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Rice, JHU, and WashU.”
It appears to me that you are particularly obsessed with getting into a “premed power house.” So are many other particularly ambitious premeds.

Any school from this list (and, yes, U. of Wis. at Madison as well) will be a very good premed school if you are one of the top students there. Many students forget (or prefer to forget) about the importance of this simple fact: It is not how great the school you attend that is important. What is important is how great a student you are at your school, which can be any one of many schools (say, the majority of the top 100 schools.)

You may think I have just given an unsolicited “lecture.” But I think when you are working hard to compete against a horde of equally hard working premeds in your orgo class in the future, at ANY of the schools in your list (I believe you could get into a couple of these schools), you will understand that it is only you, not the school, that will make or break your med school dream. (BTW, it happens that DS, who is MS2 now, used to attend one of the schools in your list (by some luck). But I think he was not as obsessed as you about getting into a school which is the “best” for a premed when he was your age – he likely studied just as hard as you though but just did not look too far ahead at his future career or even major. I think his attitude served him well for his premed journey. My advice to you is to try to relax a little bit and it will only do you good when you are surrounded by so many neurotic premeds – especially if you go to any of the schools in your list because all of them are premed power house.)

I completely understand! Thank you!
