To those in Rutgers on the pre-med track, is it advisable to ap out of the intro to bio classes? Or is it better to retake the intro to bio classes since most medical schools do not accept ap credit?

Thanks

Most medical schools do NOT accept AP credits. I believe the class you want to take is general biology, NOT intro to biology.

Yes, I already know that most medical schools do not take AP Credits, but I could often make up for that with upper-level biology classes. But is it advisable to do so? Is General Biology a must to be able to handle the higher/upper-level biology classes?

I personally haven’t taken any upper level bio classes(which i am planning to do once I transfer to rutgers) but I have taken general biology I and II. I wouldn’t say that it is a must but it is better to do so this way. You work your way up to harder classes. If you want to go to graduate school, this is the better option.

It’s fine to AP out of Physics, since it isn’t as important to medical schools, but taking gen bio in college is a must.

You’ll do fine without much effort since it’d be review to you.

I don’t believe it is find to AP out of physics. That subject is tested on the MCAT so I would think that it is important to medical schools.

Thanks niteangel, and yes, I heard the Physics on the MCAT is simple so maybe, I’ll just AP out of Physics instead of Bio.
