I got a 5 on the AP Biology exam, and I'm an incoming freshmen at Rutgers. I'm going to major in Biology. I first planned to use the AP credits to get out of General Biology for both semesters. But, I'm having seconds thoughts because I hear that med schools require don't like it if a student uses AP credits. Plus, I think its too late for me to take a more advanced bio class, like cell biology, for the fall semester. Should I take General Biology for the first semester?

I would take the class because some med schools take AP while others don’t. If you can get an AP score of 5, then some studying during the fall/spring will get you probably an A. However, don’t think it will be a class with no work, you have to attend a weekly 3 hr lab and the exams can ask very detailed questions.

When i took it the avgs were around 50-low 60s.(3000+ students in the course)

I would call some schools like UMDNJ and ask their admissions committee about AP scores.
