Pre-med Uni. of Florida vs Wake Forest

Hey everyone,

I'm new to the forums and I had a few questions regarding Wake Forest and UFs pre-med program. Ive been accepted into both universities and hope to major in biology. I was curious about whether it would be better to go to the easier school, UF because of Wakes rep for a high workload, or the better school overall? ie Wake. If anyone has any knowledge on either school related to pre-med it would be greatly appreciated and if anyone currently attends Wake Forest or UF and is pre-med or has gone through it I would greatly appreciate any advice/insight.

How are the medical school acceptance rates for undergraduates between the two schools?

I've heard that Wake Forest practices grade deflation- do medical schools know this and will they take that into account when looking at the application?

How difficult was it to fulfill the pre-med requirements at Wake? Is the workload particularly intense relative to other undergraduate universities, like the University of Florida?

Thanks for any and all answers.

For your major, you are missing the most important point. MONEY. UF is very cheap if you are FL resident, so attend that.

“do medical schools know this and will they take that into account when looking at the application?”

If you already know Wake Forest has grade deflation, then try to avoid it. They would rather take 4.0 from UC-Santa Cruz than a 3.6 from UC-Berkeley. Obviously, 3.6 from Berkeley is more qualified.

Uf Pre-med program is extremely competitive…worth every penny. i would choose UF over Wake Forest
