Pre-med

Does sarah lawrence have a reputable pre-med program? I know that an increasing number of med schools are looking for liberal arts majors these days. Does anyone know the placement rate into med schools for pre-meds from SLC?

Hey, I’m in the same boat as you. I’m a First Year at SLC and decided to be pre-med. I want to go into an md/phd program, though, which involves more research. Sarah Lawrence is perfect in that respect. Now, from what I can tell, SLC has is pretty good at getting students into med schools. I have a meeting with the pre-med advisor on Monday, so I’ll let you know what else I find out then. I hope this isn’t too late.

Just know that you will get a lot of attention in all of your classes if you come here, and that’s never a bad thing. Your math and science professors will know you really well and they will make sure that you’re grasping all the concepts. Also, you’re right that med schools really like lib. arts majors right now. They’re kind of sick of the pre-med only candidates. My don recently told me that she had several friends who were pre-med and only one got into Columbia med. He was a music major and that’s all they wanted to talk to him about during his interview. Good luck!
