So far I've been accepted at Pepperdine, and UW-Madison, and am curious how the biology (pre-med) program compares at USC? I would love to go to USC (loved the campus and felt like it was a great environment for me) but I need to know if it is competitive as far as students being admitted into med schools?

Im pretty sure USC’s biology program is competitive.

Getting into med school these days requires a strong, well-rounded application. You will need a strong GPA, a good MCAT score, a strong personal statement, clinical experience, leadership, community service, and possibly research experience.

All of the above will require a strong work ethic. “A’s” in the required science classes have to be earned.

US News and World Report ranks USC #23…UofW #45…Pepperdine#53. (NOTE:Pepperdine does have a killer view though!)

USC is a Research I University. There are plenty of opportunities to conduct research as an undergraduate if the student is diligent about it. Here is an interesting site on biological research at USC:

[PIBBS - Graduate Programs in Biomedical & Biological Sciences - University of Southern California](http://www.usc.edu/programs/pibbs/site/research_topics.html)

USC has a new advising program dedicated to pre-health students. The director is a physician at LA Childrens Hospital. The assistant director of advising used to be and admissions director at USC Keck Med School. Their web site is:

[Pre-Health Advisement Services > USC Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences](http://dornsife.usc.edu/pre-health/)

In the photo the surgeon on the left is the director of this program.

Check out this volunteer program:

Bottom line, if you work your application will be competitive across the country.
