So are pre-meds at Cornell generally defined as cut-throat?
Are most of your time spent studying, or are there time to party, etc too?

I'm not cut-throat and I've been partying for 8 days straight, but that's because classes haven't really started yet, so who knows. I'm sure there is time to party if pre-meds don't procrastinate too much. All the pre-meds I've met are really nice though, my friend and I already plan on studying together when we start getting work, so I think the cut-throat rumors are entirely blow out of proportion.

I'm a pre med, and many of my friends are too. I have yet to see that "cut-throat" behavior at Cornell. Students at Cornell tend to help each other.

If you're going to be a successful pre med at Cornell, you will study, and you will do so often and for lengthy periods of time. That's the only way to earn As when your classmates are this intelligent. Many of the classes are curved to a B- or B, so it is important that you are as well-studied as possible when going into exams.

Pre med at Cornell has been bittersweet. At time, I have cursed the commitment one needs to make in order to be successful in Cornell pre med because it involves so much dedication. However, the sweet feeling of earning an A and bringing yourself that much close to medical school makes the pain "worth it."

M, T, W, R: I usually find two or three hours a day to relax and do whatever I want. There are some weekdays in which I have so much work that I don't really have time to do anything apart from class, homework, studying, and eating. They are miserable days, but small in number.

F, Sat: Relief. I study and do homework casually during the day (say from 12:00 - 5:00). I'll probably get to go to pyramid mall, and from 9:00 PM - 4:00 AM (7 hrs!) each of these days, I do whatever I want.

Sun: Typically a day of studying and homework with short breaks here and there. It's hard to enjoy Sunday knowing you have a new week ahead of you.

Overall, this has worked very well for me. Just be sure that you know how to manage your time.

Yea I don't think they're cutthroat. Two of my good friends are sophomore there right now, and they said it's competitive, but definitely not cutthroat.
