Pre-orientation

Does anyone have experience with the pre-orientation program? What are the benefits? I wonder if a benefit is the ability to move into your room early. How does that work - working out the set up of the room with the roommate? First one in sets up his/ her side? Do they speak over the summer? What is the protocol? I commuted to Fordham and my husband commuted to Villanova and we are not not familiar with the whole move in process

The kids usually communicate on their own through email or fb. Someone can bring a microwave and someone can bring a small fridge for the room.

They will be able to move into their room early but there is no real benefit to getting into the room early as they will probably move furniture around to suit them both once they both get there.

My son enjoyed pre-orientation but the friends he made later were not the ones he met at pre-orientation.

So basically, pre-orientation is fun but not necessary, and it doesn’t matter who moves into the room first as they need to work it out when they both get there.

Thank you. This makes good sense. I assume that the school will notify them of their roommates and an email will be included to facilitate communication.

Yes the school will email them contact information for their roommate before they move in.
