Pre-Pharmacy at Northeastern University

Is it possible to not apply to the 0-6 PharmD program but instead take pre-pharmacy courses at Northeastern to take the PCAT junior year to apply to pharmacy schools?

No, only pharmacy students can take pharmacy courses. You can take basic science courses of course. If they suspect that you are going to transfer out of NU, they will deny your application though.

arsbeauty, I believe pre-pharmacy requisite courses would be the general classes all pre-pre-pharm isn’t a major at Northeastern so you would be majoring in something else while taking the necessary classes. But yeah, Tom’s also right in that you can’t take actual pharm classes if you’re not already a pharmacy major.

Does NEU 6 year pharmacy program need to take PCAT, e.g. after concluding the second year?

No PCAT necessary with the NEU program, It’s a straight 0-6 program where once you’re accepted, you remain in the program as long as you meet the GPA requirements from year to year. (I’m currently a 3rd year in the program)
