Pre-Professional Art Boarding Schools?

I hope I posted this correctly, I'm new to this site...

Anyways, I'm a dancer and I want to be a professional ballerina as my career :)

I feel that every day I go to my public middle school, I wonder why I'm there. Is any of this gonna help me in my career? No. Obviously not.

I feel if I went to a Pre-Professional Art Boarding School, I'd feel like I'd be going to school for a reason.

I came across Walnut Hill School last year, but then I decided I didn't want to go. Now I want to go again.

I was also interested in Interlochen and Illdywild last year, but I changed my mind on those too. I like Walnut Hill the best, plus it's only 2 hours from my house, so coming home during vacations wouldn't be such a huge hassle. Plus, if you're taking a plane, how do you manage to bring all your stuff in the beginning of the year?

I'm a 7th grader right now. I know I still have to finish all of this year and next year, but I"m just so excited. I feel like if I was in an Arts community year round, I'd be happier. But I'm afraid I won't be accepted.

Is there any other schools similar to Walnut Hill that I could also apply for? I was looking at the Kirov Academy, but that's just Ballet. I know my main focus is Ballet, but I don't want to be stuck in a bubble. I want to be around other people that are interested in theater, music, visual art, etc.

Thanks!!

Congratulations on your first thread!
Getting your stuff to school is not a big deal. There are whole threads about that issue. Some people fly Southwest with their families (two free bags per person).
Other people ship their bulky stuff via UPS or FedEd Ground.
Other people wait to buy bedding and towels until they arrive at school.
You have plenty of time to do a great search for the right school.
You might find it helpful to contact the schools you are interested in this year, so they can send you information. My daughter loved watching the DVDs that the schools sent.
You may also find it useful to investigate day school options in your area, particularly if you are happy with your current studio.

i was a theater major at walnut hill but i’d be happy to answer any questions you might have about the school in general and tell you about my experiences with the school and my friends experiences as ballet majors. I came to walnut hill sophomore year and left after my junior year.
