*Pre-PSAT Thread* Calling all PSAT test-takers!!!

I believe it’s early September.

I’m taking the PSAT! Ugh I just wanna take it now so I can get it over withh

strawbearries

haha your reaction is understandable, but try to use it as an opportunity :)

heyyy, so do BB test results translate into PSAT test results?

e.g. 2200 on BB test = 220 on psat?

Yes, the PSAT and SAT scores are designed to be comparable (other than the factor of 10).

The difference in length of the tests could conceivably translate into lower scores on the SAT (or higher scores on the PSAT) if fatigue is a factor. To some extent, however, the curves on the tests already account for this difference.

Is it just me or was the first CR section and second Math section in the 2010 PSAT practice booklet harder than usual?

I’m a sophmore and Ive taken 5 practice tests over the last 3 weeks. my improvement has surprised me because all I am doing is taking practice tests. I am not sure how to study.
1st test 5th test
M 67 75
CR 68 68
W 57 65

So Ive gone from 192 to 208 just from tests. I don’t know how to improve my CR and I feel as if I can still improve my Writing. The last 3 Math tests were all -2 questions that I could have gotten right while asleep, I don’t know why I keep making stupid mistakes? and feedback would be great

Anyone feeling some anticipation?

dude let’s dance i think i’m ready for this.

we get scores in dec. huh? don’t some people on here calculate the curve and stuff the day after the test?

some even note that the PSAT is “harder” in the sense that the curve is much harder, given that there are fewer questions. However, the PSAT is in no way easier; the difficulty of the questions are the same. In fact, last year i couldn’t solve two math questions on the PSAT which is discordant with my 800 SAT Math.

I got 191 freshman year and then a 217 sophomore year. I need to get a 220 to get semifinalist in my state but I haven’t studied is there any last minute tips to increase my score or should my score increase like it did between freshman and sophomore year.
Any advice would be appreciated.

oblivi0n

I totally agree with you there- it seems that PSAT math is actually tougher than SAT math.

But yeah, I’ve prepared and I’m ready to kick some a$$.

good luck to you all!

I will be taking the Wednesday PSAT this year as well. Not too worried about making SF because I did a bunch of the practice tests that CB sells.

I’m a bit worried about taking the Wednesday PSAT this year; I think it’s going to be more difficult to switch from my apathetic “■■■, school sucks” mindset to a “OK, I got this; I need to be focused” mindset. But I’ll figure it out. Is anybody else having the same concerns, out of curiosity?

AGAAAKSHDFKHRA I am just starting to study today.

^^Yes. 10 Char

so scrwd… anyone have the 05 answer key? please pm me.

I’m not in the “Oh, f-- school” attitude, it’s just that I think I’m way too lax about the test. I need a personal trainer (in academics).

I am also taking the wednesday administration; however, since I’m a sophomore, I can be pretty lax about it. nevertheless, I will be aiming for a 220+
