So on pre-registration page it is written that “requests will not be prioritized based on the order received.” If so how can one maximize the likelihood of getting in the chosen class? Should I select more sections of the same course in this case?

Yes.

I’m not entirely sure how it’s working for incoming first years rn, but yeah - you generally rank a few sections of the same core class (I ranked like 4 or 5 for self last year) and then you should get one of them
