When we do the pre-registration at the end of July, will we simply be choosing the courses that we want, and letting the College decide which sections, or will we be able to pick the actual sections we prefer?

You will be able to pick the sections you prefer, although you aren’t guaranteed to necessarily get them.

You pick your preferred sections as well. Basically, you pick and rank your top 5 classes and then 5 alternates. The alternates can be a different section of the same class or a different class entirely. If it is a class you really want, regardless of the section, there is a box you can check for all sections.

It is a fairly simple process, but if you have any questions feel free to email your dean this summer. They can walk you through the whole thing. Keep in mind the order you rank the priority of your classes is very important. Georgetown does a pretty good job as far as getting the schedule you request (as a rising senior, only my first semester did I not get exactly what I wanted, class and section), but ranking them correctly will certainly improve your chances. Your dean can help with that information as well.

Class selection is one of my favorite things (super nerdy, right?), so I would also be happy to answer any of your questions.
