I’m looking to go pre-vet, and was looking into the “Global Environmental Change and Sustainability” major. I’ve also hear that JHU is only hyper, hyper competitive for a few majors.
Does anyone have an opinion on JHU as a school for someone looking to go to veterinary school? what about info on the GECS major or admissions for one of the less competitive majors?
Thanks in advance!
I don’t know much about pre-vet at Hopkins, except that it’s a pretty small group of people. The premed advisors are (kind of) good with premeds because they deal with so many, but I don’t know how much personalized support they can give or how much know-how they have about the whole process.
As for GECS, Hopkins doesn’t admit by major except for Biomedical Engineering, so there’s no competition there. I don’t know what you mean by “competitive,” but you will be sharing some classes with premeds (more science courses if you choose the Environmental Science concentration), as well as some classes with premeds in Public Health. I think the science courses are the closest you’ll get to “competitive,” though, since they’re curved.
