I got a 790 on my SAT Math Level 2, but my percentile is 85%. I assume this means 15% of test takers got an 800. How will this affect the impact of my score on my application to MIT?

I think you're probably going to be fine, but then again, it is MIT, and a large number of applicants do have 800s.

800 is a 90th percentile, meaning that 5% of takers get a 790, I think.

The difference between a 790 and 800 is very small. The only school it might actually matter at is CalTech ;)

Dude an Asian got in w/ a 750...don't worry

er,, 800 on the last math iic was 88th percentile

so if it was the last one, it means 3% of the people got 790 (which is a heck of a lot less than people that got 800..)

I dont think 10 points make that much of a difference.

The fact that the College Board continues to report percentile scores for Subject Tests is absolutely inane. You can't compare percentiles across tests because of the different populations. The idea is to be able to compare scaled scores. And the Math 2 has a standard error of measurement of probably 30 to 40 points. Which is a fancy way of saying that it is not accurate enough to distinguish between a 790 and an 800. It's not going to hurt you.
