Precollege

Does attending a certain college/university's pre-college summer program help considerably in admissions to that college (assuming all other aspects of your application prove you would be a viable student at that college)? Or doesn't it really matter as long as you do something productive with your summer (such as a different summer program)?

One way to think about it: By spending a summer on campus, you might gain more insight into what makes the school special to you, which could be reflected in your application.

Besides the minor insight it might provide you as dyiu mentions, the answer is NO.

But here’s how it might be of help – albeit tangentially: Generally wealthy, full-pay ability families get more favorable treatment. Such as those that can afford to send their kids to expensive summer programs at college campuses.
