Your guidance counselor should hopefully help bridge the gap between your UW GPA & your ACT score. Your ECs are good… I think elaborating on your experience with languages in a well-written essay would (have been) very effective for you!

@writergirl0316 thanks for your input! and sure
What were your UChicago essays on? (I had similar stats, gpa, and ethnicity to you and I got in.) The essays are the most important part once you have those stats and ECs.

@AshleyMisAwesome For my long essay I wrote something relating music to food/late-night snacking (for the past ‘how did you get caught?’ prompt). I think my ‘why uchicago’ essay was decent (not as stellar/specific as i wanted it, although i wrote it in a goldilocks/fairy tale style). My favorites essay was more of a list with brief explanations and I thought they were pretty good.
and thank you for your thoughts!!
also @ future commenters, i accidentally left a school off of the list! the college list is this:
USC
UCLA
UC Berkeley
UVA
BU
Brandeis
Northwestern
Pomona
Columbia
Harvard
Stanford
UChicago
UPenn
Georgetown
and thanks in advance
anyone else? :-/
brief update: the science olympiad team, which i lead (pretty much i’m a coach in all but name–assigning events, arranging team meetings and build days, etc) made it to the state competition!!! this is the first time in a few years, so should i update colleges on this (esp since i lead it)?? also made 3rd in an event
also: i made first team for bowling (so basically i was in the top 6 at the conference championship), and should i update colleges on this too?
i don’t suppose anyone else wants to comment?
