Predicting this year's ED rate

For the past three years, the ED acceptance rate has been 23.12 ('12), 20.17 ('13), and 21.07 ('14). Given the jump in rankings and the switch to Common App, I personally believe there will be a good couple of hundred people increase in the number of ED applicants. This will probably correlate to a small increase in ED acceptances as well, but regardless we will see a decrease in the rate.

I am predicting below 20.00% for the first time this year. Anyone else?

Why would this year’s ED rate go down? ED attracts those fully invested in Columbia, not those who throw in an app “just because it’s prestigious,” which the switch to Common App will enable. My guess is the ED rate will decrease at the same rate it has been, while the RD acceptances will drop drastically.

And what would this “same rate” be?
