3-way ties are ugly. I'd like to see Cornell at 11 next year.

Gee, it would be nice if we could surpass everyone...

If you guys haven't seen them yet, apparently, the 2006 rankings have been "leaked" and are on the Princeton board...

I like 13 better than 14. I hope that's genuine.

What kind of rationale would place MIT lower than Duke, anyway? Does anyone actually believe that?

Duke could be a more comprehensive university?

Or maybe its students get higher verbal scores? iono

errr I think it has something weird to do with alumni changes in rates of giving or something. Maybe class sizes? I think MIT kids have higher verbal scores than Duke kids anyways lol, (75% are 750 for Duke and 760 for MIT, while Duke's Math is 780 and MIT's is perfect).

I'm fairly sure MIT is better than Duke in endowment though, because its like the center of American technology and science.

but yeah, the US News issue was sold early in some places so people psoted it

MIT does, in fact, have a larger endowment. Duke's endowment is around 4-5 billion and MIT's hovers around 5-6 billion. Duke's endowment is on the lower half of 4 billion by the way.

The Cornell Board posters are of a different breed...

lol @ bball

well the real deal is out now...go to usnews and observe, or pick one up on a newsstand in a couple days.

13, but there is no #14,so really no net change

thats a dumb comment of course there was change, we moved ahead of brown and chicago, thats a change

No. Not that much anyway.

Stop being an inflammatory moron, for once.

how could duke be ranked higher than stanford. Seriously now.

How could penn be ranked above mit and stanford?

LOL duke isn't ranked higher than Stanford. I don't even think it should be tied with Stanford or...even worse...ranked higher than MIT/CIT. Duke, Penn, Cornell, Uchic, JHU, Umich, UCB, Columbia (maybe Columbia is better), Dartmouth, etc are all in the same league but not quite in Stanford/MIT's league.

I concur, DMC ---There is only one group of Top 5: HYPSM -- There's no D there.
