Dear [MY NAME],

You have just received or will receive shortly a mailing from our office. In this mailing is a letter to the Class of 2010 giving you important freshman dates. We've discovered an error in one of these: "Registration and the beginning of Freshman Orientation". The correct date should be Saturday, September 9th, 2006. Please accept our apologies.

We look forward to welcoming you in the fall.

Some freshmen seminar advice:
1. Look for interesting courses in subjects that dont particularly interest you. The freshmen seminars can be a painless way to meet a distribution requirement in an area that is not your strength.
2. You have to apply for the freshmen seminars, rank order your preference and write a short essay on why you want to take the course. Popular courses with star professors are not easy to get into since there are 1200 freshmen and the seminars enroll only 15 students each. Also, you can only enroll in one seminar per term.
3. Typically, several seminars will be under enrolled and will take students after the application period first come first served until enrollment is filled. So if you want to have the seminar experience you should get the opportunity.
4. Look carefully at both the fall and spring offerings before deciding on the seminars you want to take. If you enroll in a fall seminar, you will have a low priority for admittance to the popular spring offerings. Those who really want to take a seminar offered in the spring might want to pass on the fall courses.

yeah...got mine!
"Let me suggest you use these next few months to rededicate yourself to your studies."
haha! i love how dean rapelye assumes we took the last month off. :)

I think she's right though :p
