Premed and Undergrad Major Question

Johns Hopkins is really good for BME, so its quite competitive. But I have one thing to say, be VERRRRY sure it is what you want to do. If you want to do it, it will never harm you only help you if you do go on to be a doc. As a matter of fact it can help quite a bit since you will have in depth device knowledge that very few other M.D.s will have.

like in high school, do they expect you to take calculus and etc?

Johns Hopkins's BME is extremely competitive. There are only about 100-120 available spots for the incoming students.

Yeah they expect you to take calc in hs. But you should probably do that anyway regardless if you do or don't do engineering. This is due to the fact that you may need to take calc again in college sometime and its always good to have some background knowledge. Calc is also a requirement for many medical schools.

how many people roughly apply to the BME program at hopkins?

oh and I plan to get recruited to their track team (no money but still) would that be a good idea?

but i really want to know how many people apply to the BME program..
Thanks

I Hate Tim Thomas

how viable is a quantitative finance degree w/ (required) minors in math and economics paired with the pre-medical requirements?

What do you mean by viable?

i kinda meant like is it marketable towards medical colleges. I know any major is practical as long as you have the enthusiasim for it, but after looking around this forum, it seems like there arent much business majors that go to med school. There might be some other reason that I dont know about, but yeah. I dont want to do this and then find out to be at a disadvantage in the application process. thanks.

Medical schools don't care what your major is. The statistics back me up on this.

Oh, and I'm an economics major.

How is Duke for Premed?

The best. :D
